Amazing Skin Rejuvenation Results With Professional Microneedling.

Microneedling is a fabulous skin rejuvenation procedure yielding some pretty amazing results. Microneedling is not as scary as it sounds. The skin rejuvenation procedure has been around for over 20 years and was initially used to treat post-acne scarring. Today it has become a popular treatment for those looking to boost collagen production, tighten and firm the skin and reduce wrinkles. It is fabulous for reducing open pores and evening out the skin tone.

What does micro-needling do, and how does it work?

First of all, let me talk about the different types of micro-needling. Since it first began, micro-needling has evolved from a single needle treatment used to break down post-acne scarring meticulously. Next came the roller devices that had tens of hundreds of tiny needles rolled over the skin. Most recently, the technology has evolved into an electronic tool that allows more precision with minimal trauma.

Lili's Esthetics Studio is a Certified Dermaroller Clinic using the latest and most advanced device, the Dermaroller eDermaStamp®.

The eDermaStamp® is an electronic micro-needling device manufactured by Dermaroller® – Germany's original company who invented aesthetic micro-needling.

Microneedling utilizes tiny surgical grade needles, which are used to create controlled micro-wounds in the skin triggering the skin's healing and rejuvenation process. Also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT), micro-needling stimulates collagen production. The procedure results in visibly younger skin with plump, firmer skin, minimizing lines, wrinkles and open pores. Microneedling also helps to break down old scarring to remodel the skin. Damaged skin is replaced with NEW SKIN that has better structure and elasticity. The result is smoother and firmer skin.

Does micro-needling hurt?

This is a question often asked by nervous people contemplating this treatment for skin rejuvenation or minimizing scarring. Before we do the micro-needling procedure, we will be prepared the skin well. If the skin is healthy and you have been looking after your skin, your skin will tolerate the treatment better and recover faster. For most people, the procedure is not painful and completely tolerable; however, some people may feel a certain level of discomfort.

What results can you expect from micro-needling, and how long before you see results?

Microneedling works by stimulating the skin's collagen production, taking 6-12 weeks to form and lay down in the skin. Depending on the grade of wrinkles or scarring, one or more treatments are required to see results. For fine lines and wrinkles, 1-3 sessions will yield visibly younger-looking skin. For deeper wrinkles or scarring, 5 to 10 treatments may be required for skin rejuvenation. Unlike dermal fillers and wrinkle injections, micro-needling generates results that last for many years. A yearly micro-needling session is necessary for a top-up to maintain results.

How should you prepare your skin for micro-needling?

Before we go ahead with a treatment, your medical history and how you have been looking after your skin will be considered. There are specific contraindications for this treatment that need to be addressed, such as illness, certain medical conditions, medication, keloid scarring, infection, etc. So a thorough consultation will need to be done before we can do this treatment. If you do not have any contraindications, we can go ahead with the procedure.

Healthier skin will better tolerate the treatment and yield more exceptional results, so looking after your skin beforehand is essential. A good home care routine for at least one month before you undertake the treatment will generate the best results. Having regular facial treatments and staying out of the sun is essential to prep your skin for the micro-needling procedure. Depending on the grade of ageing, sun damage or scarring in the skin, I will advise you on the home care you need to use to prep your skin. We may also need to do a few skin treatments before we undertake the micro-needling procedure.

How should you care for your skin after micro-needling?

Looking after your skin post-micro-needling treatment is critical in getting the best results out of this treatment. You will be required to use home care products that help boost collagen production and aid in the healing and skin rejuvenation process. You must stay out of the sun entirely for at least 48 hours after the treatment and use sunscreen whenever you go outdoors after that. You need to keep your skin calm and clean post-treatment, so it is advisable not to do any strenuous physical exercise for at least 48 hours.
